Meet the 20th General President of the AHCP!
Dr Elisaveta B. Nencheva B Nencheva, MA, PhD, PAHCP: AHCP General President (Global Operations)
Many congratulations to Dr Elisaveta B. Nencheva, who is appointed as the 20th AHCP General President(Global Operations) starting from 13 April 2026.


Biography of Dr Elisaveta Nencheva With The Presidential Welcome Message to All the AHCP Members
Our Esteemed General President: A Highly Qualified Professional!
Dr Elisaveta Nencheva, MA, PhD, an Associate Professor in Social Medicine and Public Health, has a strong educational background in Bulgaria and internationally. She has graduated from “St. Kliment Ohridsky” Sofia University, Bulgaria with major humanitarian sciences and languages (English), minor – Russian, MA diploma in English and Russian. She attended the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Medical University, Sofia. She also has a PhD Diploma Doctor of Philosophy in Philology.
She attended Medical University, Sofia and did a postgraduate programme in medical sociology. She also has a diploma in hospital management from the University.
Dr Nencheva also attended the Sofia International Management Centre and Ancell School of Business, State University of West Connecticut, Danbury, USA with a qualification in hospital management. She further attended Canterbury Business School, University of Kent at Canterbury, UK; University of Cambridge, Institute of Public Health, Cambridge, UK; University of Cambridge Language Centre, Cambridge, UK – Medical English; Catholic University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands – International Program in Bioethics Education and Research; Erasmus University Rotterdam, Erasmus University Medical School, Rotterdam, The Netherlands – Summer Program; The National Health Service Wales Staff College, Cardiff, Wales, UK; Ministry of Health, Medical University, Sofia, Bulgaria; The Hastings Center , Briarcliff Manor, New York, NY, USA – specialisation as a visiting Professor in bioethics; Medical University and Sofia EU PHARE Program – two year diploma programme in hospital management.
In 2003, the International Evaluation at California State University, Fresno, CA, USA, Evaluation Report recognised her PhD as an equivalent to a USA Doctorate Degree.
Dr Nencheva worked as an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health, Faculty of Public Health, Medical University, Sofia, Bulgaria.
Her professional experience and activities include: university lecturer and researcher as an Associate Professor, Department of Social Medicine and Public Health, Medical University, Sofia, Bulgaria and in the National Centre for Scientific Medical Information, Sofia; university lecturer in medical English; scientific editor and editor-in-chief of medical journals.
Her teaching experience and research interest include delivering of lectures to undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students and MDs in various public health disciplines (social medicine, healthcare management, bioethics, healthcare marketing, leadership in healthcare etc.). Fields of research: social medicine; public health; concepts and terminology in social medicine and public health; terminological problems of epidemiology of non-communicable diseases; manager’s lifestyle; organisational behaviour ; manager’s characteristics; manager’s language; research report; managing people; motivation; management and leadership (theory and practice, criteria for effective leadership influence and power); management process basic functions; managerial skills; ethical issues in management process; healthcare reform in Bulgaria and developed countries.
Dr Nencheva had participated in numerous educational and scientific programmes and projects as an author, lecturer and coordinator: EU TEMPUS Project “Public Health Disciplines in Bulgaria”; EU PHARE Project “Hospital Management. Training in Hospital Management”; “Good Medicine, Good Society” and “The Goals of Medicine: New Priorities”, international projects with The Hastings Center, New York, NY, USA. She has also participated with lectures and papers at national and international scientific fora: in UK, USA, France, The Netherlands, Greece, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria etc.
She has authored 90 scientific articles, monographs and papers, dictionaries and three books.
She is a member of many Bulgarian and international scientific societies and organisations including the Association of Health Care Professionals; International Association of Health Care Professionals; Joint International Academies of Research and Education. She is also a Trustee/Director of JIARE and the AHSP and a member of the International Editorial Board for scientific medical journals.
Dr Nencheva speaks many international languages including Bulgaria, English, Russian and she has studied and uses Latin.
We look forward to working with Dr Elisaveta Nencheva in the various global projects and international programmes for the membership of the AHCP and the ibnternational communities we have been serving !

The Presidential Welcome Message to All the AHCP Members
Presidential Message by Dr Elisaveta Nencheva, the 20th General President of the Association of Health Care Professionals
Dear Members of the Association of Health Care Professionals,
I am very honored to be appointed as the 20th General President of the Association of Health Care Professionals(AHCP), which includes its various consortia and groups.
It gives me a great pleasure to send you this presidential message to all the members of the AHCP and the membership services of the Association, including the Members of the different consortia the various project groups. Our Association has a long history dating back over 95 years with wide achievements in numerous areas, which are all geared towards promoting excellence in medical practice, patient care, research, innovation and education globally.
The Association of Health Care Professionals (AHCP) a not for profit membership organisation for multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, which encourages research and education organisational activities for healthcare professionals worldwide. Its aim is to encourage and maintain the highest excellence and standards of patient care, research, innovation and education, and act as the 'voice' of healthcare professionals on education, training and standards issues. Founded in 1930, the IAHCP is a well established organisation with an outstanding record of achievements. Milestones in its history include the following activities:
- the establishment of the International Association of Health Care Professionals (IAHCP) Society Consortium in 1934
- the implementation of the AHCP cancer registries and Databases for promoting excellence in cancer research worldwide in 1938
- the setting up of the AHCP Sponsored medical centres in 1939 internationally for promoting excellence in patient care, research and innovations
- the setting up of the IAHCP Education Academy in 1947 in Europe and other international locations
- the formation of the AHCP Consortium in 1957
Another important achievement of the AHCP includes the promotion of education and research training in healthcare issues, the setting up of clinical guidelines for clinicians, the expansion of research into multidisciplinary healthcare settings, and the promotion of primary and secondary care globally.
The aim of our Association is to encourage and maintain the highest standards of patient care and education and act as the ‘voice’ of healthcare professionals on education, training and standards issues; to promote excellence in medical practice, research, science, technology, innovation, patient care and education in society. The Association is a well established organisation with an outstanding record of achievements. Another notable accomplishment in its history include the establishment of education and research training in healthcare issues, the setting up of clinical guidelines for clinicians, the expansion of research into multidisciplinary healthcare and the promotion of primary and secondary care in many parts of the world.
Thus, the AHCP encourages health professionals worldwide to do research and organisational activities and to invest their high professional expertise in patient care, innovation, science, technology, humanitarian work, community development programmes, and education, which have been in the fore front our organisation since the 1930s. In doing so, we will all continue to support the United nations(UN) 2030 Agenda, and the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), which we have adopted since 2015 to date.
The Association individual and organisational memberships are committed to improving patient care and education, developing their own skills and developing medical practice that meets public demands and expectations via science, innovation, technology and development of communities in their areas and globally. Health care professionals are facing a lot of challenges nowadays. The trend towards multi-professional working, research and education in healthcare are the modern ways of working in the twenty first century.
Together, we will work towards achieving equitable world and eliminating inequalities, and promoting public and global health, which will provide healthier world. This would lead to peace, clean climate, happy population, prosperity, partnerships, good sanitation, and eradication of poverty in order to make our world a better place for all.
On behalf of the AHCP General President’s Office it is a great honour and privilege for me to cordially wish you all good health, positive energy, good luck for accomplishing dreams and goals and for achieving the aims and prosperity of our Association.
